Daily Journal

1) What was confirmed for you? what did you already know?
It was confirmed for me today, that I enjoy have food fights and the teachers do not. I already knew that we would get in trouble, but what I also knew was that, we would have alot of fun. Which we did.
2) What is the word of the day? Why did you choose this word?
I have 2 words on my mind right now, and one is FUN and the other is TROUBLE, and they both relate to the day I had today. I chose FUN because this day was full of fun, and I have also heard alot of people saying that word aswell. I chose TROUBLE because, well I am in trouble for this food fight.
3) What surprised you in your learning today?
I was really surprised that I couldn't get any work done almost, and this was all after lunch, after the food fight. I think I couldn't do any work because I had too much energy after it and all I wanted to do was run.
4) What changes are you going to make as a result of what you have learned?
I think I am going to change how much I focus in class, I really need to buckle down and change the way I am in class, I need to pay attention to the teacher, and listen and take notes on everything.
5) What connections have you made to your own life?
I have made a connection that when I wake up late for my bus, I am more panicky and stressed throughout the day, so I would like to change that, so I do not feel any of those feelings.
6) What questions are you left with?
Why do people have to be so uptight?
Why does Grade 12 have to be so stressful?
Why can't food fights just be fun, and not a big deal?

Documentaries That You Should See Before You Die

The Cove is a documentary that was filmed in 2009, about the annual killing of dolphins in a National Park in Taiji, Wakayama in Japan. The film documents a team of people, going into one of these Coves and seeing what really goes on down there, and what they find is very disturbing. The reason I chose this documentary is because, I think everyone should see how horrible these dolphins are treated every year, and if more and more people help out, we might have a chance in stopping the hunting drive.

Sicko is a 2007 documentary film by American filmmaker Michael Moore. The film investigates health care in the United States, focusing on health insurance and the pharmaceutical industry. The film compares the for-profit, non universal U.S. system with the non-profit universal health care systems of Canada, the United Kingdom, Finland, France and Cuba. I chose this documentary because I feel like everyone should see this and know how health insurance is in their country and other countries around them.

Super Size Me was one of those documentaries that were nominated for an Academy Award. It's about an American, Morgan Spurlock, who directed and starred in this film. Morgan Spurlock goes on a 28-day long period where he only eats McDonald's food, it follows the drastic changes as he goes through the long 28 days. I chose this documentary because I think everyone should see what they are actually consuming every time they go to McDonald's.

This documentary is all about the farming, and food production in the ways that are environmentally harmful, and the abusive to animals. I chose this documentary because I wanted everyone to see how the food they digest and buy, is made, and to show just how wrong they treat the animals before slaughtering them, and also how they treat the animals during slaughtering.

Earthlings is an incredible documentary about humanity's absolute dependence on animals. It also documents the way human beings abuse and treat the animals that provide us food, animals in the animal shelters, and puppies that are in puppy mills. I chose this documentary because if more and more people watch this, then we could make a difference in the ways they treat these animals.

Daily Journal

1) What was confirmed for you? What did you already know?
It was confirmed for me today that, I am very angry with the choices my teacher has chosen for Nightmare Before Christmas, one of my favorite scenes is now, my least favorite scene. So I am not very impressed. I already knew that I wanted to play the role of the mayor since I first saw the movie in class, from the first glance at him.
2) What is the word of the day? Why did you choose it?
The word of the day would probably be pissed. This is because of my mood, and I have also used it many times today, because of all the things that have happened. Hopefully, I do not have to use this word again this week.
3) What surprised you in your learning today?
Nothing really surprised me in my learning today, but I guess I can see that whenever I get more sleep, I am more focused and I work harder.
4) What changes are you going to make as a result of what you have learned?
I don't think I would change much, but I think I should keep staying on  task and doing my work, and I think I should be fine
5) What connections have you made to your own life?
One connection I have made is that when I don't read my textbook before a test, I can only hope to get a good mark, Which is why I should always look at all the pages and worksheets that are associated with the test.
6) What questions are you left with?
Why doesn't Translink have more buses on there routes?
Why didn't I get my L when I was 16?
Why can't I find a job?

Brave New World - Shakespeare

Why is Shakespeare's work locked away in a safe?

Shakespeare's work is locked in a safe, because, there is no unhappiness in the Book, and basically all of Shakespeare's plays and scripts have many unhappy thoughts and such. For example, in his plays there is every emotion you can imagine, like happiness, sadness, people fighting and having disputes and a lot of what people don't want in Brave New World which is, unhappiness.

Daily Journal

1) What was confirmed for you; what did you already know?
It was confirmed for me that having a double spare on Mondays definitely makes me more energized and happier than all the other days of the week. I already knew that it was a monsoon outside this morning....and I liked it.

2) What is the word of the day? Why did you choose this word?
I don't really have a word chosen for today, but I have been using the word CUTE a lot today. The reason I am saying cute so much today is because, I keep saying it to my friend just to bug him, all in good fun.

3) What surprised you in your learning today?
I was surprised today that I actually paid attention in biology 12 today, because the past couple classes, I have been tuning out and such, but I think that is because of the lack of sleep that week.

4) What changes are you going to make as a result of what you have learned?
I am going to try and change my average test/quiz marks that I usually get in my classes and make it better than I usually do.

5) What connections have you made to your own life?
I have made many connections, and one of them is that I need to go to sleep earlier, and wake up at a decent time so I do not miss my bus. I don't know how many times I have missed my bus, and I still haven't learned. (sorry all teachers I am late to class for)

6) What questions are you left with?
I still don't understand how and why people yawn?
How do spiders sleep?
How many people have touched the Eiffel Tower?
